Devon & Cornwall Garden Designers & Landscape Architects, Roof Gardens

helping you bloom....

Our initial visit will be free of charge, a chance for you to meet one of our designers on site and discuss your aspirations for your garden, and to ascertain what level of service you require from us.

Our fee estimate will follow shortly after; this letter will contain an outline of the required design schedule, along with a breakdown of the estimated price by the hours allocated to each phase of the new design.

initial design concept

If you appoint us, we will undertake a site analysis. This will help us to work out what we need to work with on the site, i.e. the views, the sun's direction, elements that you feel you can't live without (or with).... We can't eradicate nosey neighbours - but we can mitigate their presence through design!

We will also undertake a survey for large complex or gardens we can organise a full measured survey if the scope of the work requires this.

It is important before our visit that you think about how you might like to use your garden, what are your likes and dislikes, what do you dream about for your garden. Designing your garden is one of the most exciting think you can do in making your home more individual. We will take this opportunity to develop a full design brief with you.

£££! Yes, it all comes down to it in the end, but you don't need loads of it to make a difference and we will tailor a design and the detailing to suit your pocket - therefore it greatly helps us if you are able to give an indication of your budget.

Our fees will vary between garden projects depending on its complexity. However, all projects will receive the same high standard of attention to detail and professional service.

When considering your budget it is worth remembering that a well designed and attractive garden can greatly enhance the value of your property as well as providing another beautiful and practical living space.

Depending on the scale of the project we would submit an initial invoice when detailed plans have been provided.

We believe that the design process is a very important part of the project and you are a key part of the process. Depending on how involved you wish to be with the design process, we may meet several times when sketch drawings and ideas are discussed until you are happy to move on with the detailed design.

We will prepare a set of presentation drawings including an initial sketch layout plan, some sketches, and if required, section/elevations showing how the garden will look. We will make suggestions on the style and type of planting. Don't be afraid to change things at this stage at any changes later on can be expensive.

construction detailing and planting

When you are happy with the overall design, we will move forward with the preparation of the construction drawings and specifications detailing the materials.

Design will continue throughout this stage to ensure every detail is considered to achieve the highest quality.

A detailing planting plan will show positions of plant varieties and numbers and a schedule of plants will detail the plant varieties, quantities and sizes. All of this information is needed for the landscape contractor to prepare his quotations. In most cases we would recommend a landscape contractor, however, should you want the contract to go out to tender to a selection of landscape contractors, we can prepare full tender documentation and manage the tender process on your behalf.

time to build

We will oversee the chosen Landscape Contractor for you by arranging an initial setting up meeting between all parties so that you can inform the contractor of any specific requirements that you may have and to discuss the programme of works.

We would then make periodic visits to check the progress and quality of workmanship at key stages. We will also check that the quality of materials and plants are to the required standard.

maintenance and aftercare

We all know things look great when they've just been built, but gardens change on a daily and seasonal basis. Therefore, we can offer a maintenance summary if you would like a guide to help your garden grown and mature into your dream garden.

We are also available (free of charge) to attend all opening cocktail parties/barbecues..... that's if you aren't sick of the sight of us by then!
